RELIABLE PERFORMANCE

Allen Gauge Tool Company - Gauges for Threaded Tubular Products ,API Thread Gauge

New and Improved. Used to check tooth thickness at the pitch line on external and internal buttress casing. The new reduced size and smooth operation make it easy to check couplings.

1227- Single Dial Gauge 4 1/2″-13 3/8″

1228- Single Dial Gauge 16″ and Larger

1227

Gauge Type: Single Dial Buttress Form Gauge
Thread Type: Buttress Casing 4-Ω~13 3/8″
Dial Type: 0~5~0, Balanced
Graduation: 0.0005″
Dial Travel: 0.020″

Description: The 1227 is a thread form gauge used to check the tooth thickness of either External or Internal API Buttress Casing in sizes from 4-Ω~13 3/8″. It utilizes an anvil with a fixed pin locator on the 10 Degree flank while the moveable point contacts pitch line of the 3 Degree flank for accurate readings. Product error is determined by first and “zeroing” the indicator on a setting standard. Due to the differences in thread form, a 1225-A Setting Standard is required for External threads and a 1224-A is needed for Internal threads. The measurement taken then indicates the deviation from the API Nominal.

1228

Gauge Type: Single Dial Buttress Form Gauge
Thread Type: Buttress Casing 16~20″
Dial Type: 0~5~0, Balanced
Graduation: 0.0005″
Dial Travel: 0.020″

Description: The 1228 is a thread form gauge used to check the tooth thickness of either External or Internal API Buttress Casing in sizes from 16~20″. It utilizes an anvil with a fixed pin locator on the 10 Degree flank while the moveable point contacts pitch line of the 3 Degree flank for accurate readings. Product error is determined by first and “zeroing” the indicator on a setting standard. Due to the differences in thread form, a 1225-B Setting Standard is required for External threads and a 1224-B is needed for Internal threads. The measurement taken then indicates the deviation from the API Nominal.

Three Dial and Single Dial Gauges

The Three Dial and Single Dial gauges are convenient working gauges for controlling the basic thread form on API buttress casing. Their main role as a quick check of thread angles and tooth width during production help to control the manufacturing process and to evaluate incorrect or worn tooling.

Lead Gauges- Internal and External – High Accuracy

Allen Lead Gauges are designed to check lead error on internal and external threads quickly and accurately. The gauges are used with contact points which can be set at 1/2″, 1″, 2″, 3″, or 4″ intervals allowing per-inch or cumulative errors to be measured. All gauges feature reverse tension of the moveable contact point that simplifies handling on buttress thread types, allowing measurements to be taken against the 3° flank in the same manner and ease as with any other thread. The shorter 5690-C identical to the 5690-G but has a span of up to 2″. Used with an Allen Lead Gauge Setting Standard, a lead error of 0.010 fast to 0.010 slow can be measured to the nearest 0.0005″ and estimated to the nearest 0.002″. Gauges are furnished with 0.072 diameter tungsten carbide contact points, unless otherwise specified.

Contact points from 0.18 diameter to .500 diameter can be easily changed to equip gauges for a variety of thread forms. Refer to Lead Gauge Setting Standards for best contact point sizes and matches setting standards.

External Lead Gauges: For all external threads. These gauges can also be used on internal threads 4″ nominal and larger.

Tool No.    Capacity

5690-G 1/2″ to 4″ length of thread

5690-C 1/2″ to 2″ length of thread

Internal Lead Gauge: For all internal threads in sizes smaller than 4″ nominal (4 1/2″ O.D.)

Tool No.    Capacity

5690-0 1/2″ to 4″ length of thread 1 1/4″ diameter and larger

5690-G

Gauge Type: External Lead Gauge, 4″
Thread Type: All API Thread types
Dial Type: 10~0~10, Balanced
Accuracy: 0.0002″ over entire range
Dial Travel: 0.020″

Description: The 5690-G is used to check lead error on any External API Thread Form. Our latest series of Lead Gauges feature reverse tension on the moveable contact, which engages the load flank to simplify measurements on Buttress Type Threads. High accuracy coupled with the ability to make quick and precise readings have made this a user favorite for decades. The body of the 5690-G is chromed and contoured to insure durability, which will allow it to be a reliable tool for many, many years. Craftsmanship in manufacturing and hand fitting in assembly allows the gauge to read product errors of up to 0.010″ with an accuracy of 0.0002″. Measurement is determined by first “zeroing” the gauge on the second component of the measuring system, a precision ground setting standard. These are available in various pitches and accommodated for specific tapers. The third component, naturally, are the interchangeable contact points. These are made of Tungsten Carbide and available in the various diameters needed for pitch line contact. Their spacing can be varied at1/2″ intervals for a maximum cumulative lead measurement of 4″. The measurement taken then indicates the deviation from the API Nominal. The Allen Lead Gauge, 5690 Series, is without a doubt the top of line when it comes to reliability, durability, and most of all precision.

5690-C

Internal and External Large and Small Diameter

Allen thread height gauges give a fast, accurate reading of distance between the thread crest and thread root. Gauges with dials reading 0-100 measure the actual thread heights. Those with dials reading 1-10-0 measure the error in thread height and must be used with a setting standard.

The 6709, 6710 and 7705 gauges are equipped with the Allen Self-Centering Height Gauge Point for round bottomed threads. This point is a unique combination of an outer sleeve, hardened and ground to a 60° angle, which seats on the thread flank and allows the inner contact point to drop into the exact center of the root radius. The new 6710 and 6711 gauges feature a shortened anvil, allowing for easier inspection of small diameter tubular products. This design permits anvil contact surface to rest on all fully formed threads, instead of overlapping imperfect threads.

Other height gauges have cone points for V or buttress threads or special points for extreme-line threads. All gauges are furnished with fitted carrying cases.

Ring Groove J-Gauge

Ring Groove Diameter Measurement: Special contact points made of tungsten carbide can be used in conjunction with a #8191 Internal Taper Gauge and a standard vernier to determine groove diameter.

5886-G Ring Groove Height Gauge: Useful on couplings with a ring groove added after threads have been machined. Manufactured with a special anvil and tungsten carbide contact point to measure the thread height relative to the groove bottom. Easily determines depth to .001″

Using several different readings or rotating of the coupling while measuring, will give a reading of grove eccentricity.
